Mission

Hanu Organic Skincare creates and sells organic, conscious cosmetics while educating the community on safe, natural skin care. This means we believe in disclosing every ingredient that we put in our products so that you know what you are putting on your skin.

Who We Are

Hanu is the Hawaiian word meaning “to breathe”.   The Hawaiians believe that you should pause, collect yourself, and breathe as a way to be conscious of your own behavior.  At Hanu Skin Care, we use simple organic ingredients as a symbol of that breath. Before applying them your skin, you breathe in the natural herbal aroma of our artisan oils, awakening your senses while calming your mind.  As the aroma continues to cascade through your senses like a waterfall into a beautiful pool below, you apply the oils to your skin and the perfect blend of multivitamins absorbs quickly, balancing and renewing each cell one at a time. It all works together to remind us to first focus on cherishing our bodies from the outside moving inward while effecting change around us with our own conscious behavior.   We are committed to consciousness by awakening the connection within ourselves and spreading the word to the community around us.

The Products

Our skin care products are made by using a combination of beneficial, plant based oils to meet the needs of all types of skin.  To ensure your product is made with the best, natural ingredients, we formulate each one by hand in small batches with 100% pure and organic or wild-crafted oils.  We don’t use any synthetic chemicals, preservatives, or GMO’s.  We only make products that we would use every day and in fact, we started making these products out of our desire to have these benefits for ourselves.

Did you know that the products you put on your skin every day may be made with harmful, synthetic chemicals?  Eek.  You can look up your skin care, makeup, and perfume at the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database or by using their Think Dirty phone app. After I learned about the hormone disrupting and even cancer causing chemicals I was putting on my body I decided to take action.  Once I started researching essential oils and replaced my beloved face moisturizer and perfume, I was pleasantly surprised at the flexibility I had not only with the scent I could wear but with the benefit the oils would give my skin!  At Hanu Skin Care, we publish all our ingredients.  Try Hanu skin and bath products and find out how your skin will become awakened, balanced and how your skin will be renewed by the exotic mix of beneficial oils we use in our products.

We blend together a combination of essential oils and carrier oils to make the fabulous skin care products at Hanu. Essential oils are amazingly diverse oils derived from the aromatic portion of plants such as the leaves, bark, and roots, and can be used for medicinal purposes such as skin treatments, aromatherapy, cleaning agents and deodorizers.  Clove Bud essential oil for example has been known to do everything from fighting cold and flu symptoms to repelling insects while Sweet Marjoram essential oil is known to help with migraines and insomnia.  You’ll find information about the the essential oils we use in our products under the product descriptions.

A carrier oil is a very unassuming way of describing a category of fabulously beneficial oils. Carrier oils are derived from the fatty portion of a plant––usually from the seeds, kernels or the nuts.  Carrier oils get their name because they are often used to dilute essential and other oils prior to application to the skin.  Essential oils and other concentrated oils can cause a skin irritation if applied directly to the skin.  As with our essential oils, you’ll find information about the carrier oils we use in our products under the product descriptions.
